Rivers for Future

Rivers for the Future
is an online program developed by Miss Greshma Raju, founder of Eco-Peace Teen Café and  Miss Sohini Jana, Senior Development Officer, Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, in collaboration with Global Law Thinkers Society, Bangladesh, Social Inclusion Project and Global Interfaith WASH Alliance. The online program is funded by the Euphrates Institute Peace Practice Alliance Alumni micro-grant initiative for the year 2022-23 and envisions facilitating community peace leadership to build a more inclusive and sustainable world for all.

The project focuses on the environmental significance of rivers, riverine systems, wetlands and water resources while also seeking to engage in a conversation that reflects on the symbol of the river. This project seeks to engage the youth to help them learn about the different ways in which they can contribute to the conversation on saving water, and saving rivers by being a creative force in the field of environmental activism. Through carefully curated webinars pertaining to existing water and river conservation efforts, tools to influence media and policy narratives, social entrepreneurship as an avenue for fostering change, career options to create social impact in the field of environmental activism, writing and publishing for advocacy and policy influence, this program seeks to bring to young peace leaders a road map to work towards the important goal of saving rivers and water bodies by embodying the creative and adaptive force of the river in themselves.

The program will take place over a span of 2 months with the goal of encouraging participants to write blogs and produce content based on the sessions to be published by Eco-Peace Teen Café and The Social Inclusion Project. The youth will also remain connected to the network and mentors who Miss Sohini and Miss Greshma will connect them to as they proceed to build their own way forward in the field based on the lessons learned from the program.
